Bayliner Ciera 2855, 1998. Bought a marine AC unit for it, now need to install.
I want to hook up water pick up and T it to the existing seacock that supplies the head since i never use it anyway and i don't want to pull the boat out and drill the bottom to install a separate thru hull

What kind of water pump is needed for this application? There are quite a few ones to choose from. AC is 16000 BTU so how much of the water flow will be required?
Also i assume i will need a strainer and some sort of back valve. Can i get by with the cheapest strainer?

Also are the in, out and all the hoses standard size diameter?

Thanks!

I have Webasto marine AC, the manual says any pump that can supply minimum of 350 Galllons per hour is sufficient. We have a 500 Gph pump, it came as a kit with the strainer. Just a tip, when mounting strainer and pump make sure both are located low in the bilge area below the waterline. That way you will never have the priming issues.

Sounds great. That is sort of what i was thinking. Now just have to figure out the proper hose size.

Its just i am looking at pumps and they all have different hose diameters. Some have 3/4 intake, some have 5/8, some 1/2

so i will need a hose and a strainer to go from the seacock to the pump and then another hose to go from the pump to the AC, and the another one from AC to thru hull to dump it out. All that confuses me a bit

Here is picture of my setup. Basically seacock, hose, strainer, hose to pump intake, and hose run to AC condenser intake. From AC you will need another hose for overboard discharge above the waterline (24" above ideally). Also keep in mind AC generates a lot of condensate, mine is plumbed to drain in to a shower sump box otherwise condensation will go in to the bilge or whatever compartment the AC unit is.

Bilge area raw water pickup plumbing

Here is the rest of AC plumbing including condensation sump box located in adjacent compartment below the AC drip pan (connected with clear tubing to drain the AC condensate pan).

Thank you so much, this is awesome. This is basically what i am looking to do. I guess i will just get the manuals for my AC and find the matching pump ( i believe standard ones are called March and just get one of Ebay)
I was just confused by the hose diameters but i guess once i get the pump in, should be pretty straight forward

Thanks!
