Recently had my 1996 2452 express in the bay under different water conditions with the following results

calm waters 4200 rpm with speed indicated of 30 mph , GPS speed of 25.6 knots all captured on camera and video.

maintaining a healthy 40 psi oil and temp of 130-140 indicated.

two souls onboard with no water in the holding tanks and 30 gallons fuel onboard

prop is prop tech 3 blade stainless 19 pitch.

still fine tuning things but very happy with the boat.

The numbers were at wot ?

Off the top of my head 4200-4600 rpm at wot.

Should be on your engine.

Say I'm right concerning wot numbers if the tach is correct ( big if ) with a full tank of fuel 70 gallons, water in the holding tank you will not be able to reach recommend wot.

A 14.5 x 17 4 blade might be the ticket.

You did raise the trim tabs after planing ?

I had a hunch something wasn't working right, so I tested the aft bilge pump by putting a fair bit of water in. The float switch never kicked in. Flipped the manual switch and it drained the bilge dry right quickly.

What would cause the float switch to stop working? I'm guessing flotsam caught in it or something like that, but I don't know that they look like since it's buried under the engine. Which leads to my second question: Assuming that I need to clean the float switch or even replace the pump, is that possible without engine removal? Or am I better off installing a new pump on a piece of wood that I can slide under the engine from the front?

oops! forgot about the trim tabs being fully extended...

still working out best cruise speed and range.

If I have fully loaded and she runs comfortable @ 20mph on plane that will be fine with me.

My son was driving the other time with same setup but he was pushing 5100 rpm indicated and 31 knots GPS indication before I got a hand on throttle and pulled it back..

Updating my own question for the archives in case anyone else looks for the same information.

The aft bilge pump is a Johnson 3615, as shown in the attachment. It’s just below the front of the engine, and the float switch can toggled by hand if you’re sufficiently flexible and have a cold drink for afterwards to soothe your wounds.

It turns out that my pump is fine. With the model number I was able to look up the manual, and it seems the pump won’t auto start until there is 2 inches of water, then it pumps until it’s down to 3/4 of an inch. Whereas when I was testing it with the manual switch, I assuming that if it could pump any water at all that the auto float switch should have engaged.

I'm upgrading my fishfinder/chartplotter. I would like a through transom transducer.
I would assume the my 1995 2452 is single layer of fiberglass, but I wanted to make sure.
Thanks.

Can someone please post up a picture of your coolant over flow tank? I have a partial closed cooling system with no over flow tank. I need to rig something up as the heat exchanger is dumping coolant into the bilge . Thanks in advance.

It's quite simple, just buy a suitable tank and connect with a hose to the tube on the filler neck, tank must be placed higher than heat exchanger .
I'll post a Picture when I get home in 2 days, if not someone is quicker.

My overflow tank is mounted 6-8" lower than the level of the heat exchanger. Pressure builds within the closed cooling system as the engine warms up and pushes coolant into the overflow tank via its connection at the bottom of the tank. As the engine cools a vacuum is created within the closed cooling system and coolant is pulled back in (no gravity needed)

You are absolutely right it's not needed, but I found it to be easier to get rid of air in the hose when the tank is higher.

Hi all, been a while since I last posted end of last year I think. I heard some changes are underway on BOC leadership. Anyway, quick catch up... I added more mods to Go Aweigh To and to my aluminum trailer which I will document shortly in our forum with photos, etc. I Nothing outlandish but definitely more functional. I underwent a hip replacement in May and the other one 22 days ago (16 Sept). So in total, I am Mr Titanium Man... both knees and both hips plus one wrist... the $6 million dollar man has nothing on me... All due to my time in the service. My bride is thinking she can make some big bucks if she recycles me...

Been fishing with Koppers Kove and we did well up in Sekiu and Canadian waters... more on that later as well.

For those who sent private messages, Sorry, just saw them and felt I did not need to respond to some which were 6+ months old and more...

The boat I bought did not include a manual. Trying to get an idea of how to winterize the freshwater system? I have owned a fifth wheeler and it seems this would be similar? Is there I manual for a 1996 that will show what and where I have to do the process?
I was told by the former owner he drained the water before I picked it up.

Go aweigh2452, Congratulations on the new hips. Had one done in Dec. Looking forward to see you're newest modifications. I added some steps to my trailer to make it easier safer to board when launching alone.
