I switched to a 14.5 x 17 4 blade. In your case and some of the other threads i might recommended a 14.5 x 19 4 blade say a Solas, look around the web about a 120 bucks maybe less.

I have one in classified, Kaczman . . . might be a 14.25" . . . have to go look. What is your recommended RPM? 3100 sounds way too low. Were you planning or plowing the water?

I would check your tach for proper operation. IMHO you could not be doing 28mph at 3100 rpm in our boats. K

Has anyone tried a hydrofoil with the Bennett 12x12 DF?
I talked to a guy at the boat ramp that swears by the Hydra foil but he didn't have big tabs. He had a 2452 with a 5.7.

Still playing with props try a four blade 15.25x15 now.

. . . . . think you'll see that the 15" pitch of that prop is too low . . . need to get up in the 17" or 18", maybe even 19" range . . . that's what I had on mine (2003 2452 with a 5.0L) so you have more HP, get more pitch and bet you'll like it . . . .

Yes I agree it seems low. I started with a 19 and have been going down one size at a time. I think the 1.47 ratio is the problem. The 29 nts with the 16x16 but only 4200rpm. I appreciate any info as I have been trying to figure this out since I got the new motor.

I just had my first WOT ride in my new to me 2452. It came with a dinged up aluminum prop and a new Quicksilver 18 1/4" PT 19.
I ran the dinged up one since it was on and ran a GPS 36mph with the factory tach reading 3800 rpm.
If I'm not mistaken, WOT should be around 4800 rpm? The prop could limit the RPM to 3800?
In any event, WOT should be higher to get the least wear and most efficiency, correct?
I'll run the new prop in the next week or so.
Thanks! Awesome thread and site.

I recently purchased a 1995 Bayliner 2452 with Bennett tabs.
It had been about 5 years since the boat was used.
The trim unit is topped off with fluid.
The tabs do not work but I hear the motor run.
The motor also seems to be lose (moves around in the retaining strap) for some reason. The retaining strap screws are tightened.
It is getting good voltage from the batteries.
Before I start working in it, any ideas that might save me some time?
Thanks.

ETA: I cleaned the connector and ran the tabs up and down a few times and they work now.

Since I wasn't able to find any other cruisers with this mod prior to doing it I thought it was worth sharing. Added a 112 lb thrust, 72", auto-deploy Minn Kota Ulterra to my 2452 and it works awesome. It is controlled by remote or the link to a Humminbird Helix 9 and has built in GPS that interfaces with lake maps. The most used feature besides remote auto-deploy is the spot lock which will keep the bow of the boat in the same exact location for hours. I use it to vertical fish in deep water or on humps/points. It also is really nice to anchor on a spot without having to actually deploy an anchor. It fits perfectly on the front of the boat.

Water pump replacement/ repair. Wish me luck I'm going in. Just hope I can get back out. Worked fine then week or two later, when switched on lights dim but pump doesnt work. Seized bearing? Dead spot in motor?Either way it's going to be reinstalled in a more accessible area!

Hello, Newbie question here. It has been many years since we owned a power boat, have been sailors since. Are looking at a 2452 to use for tralierboating to spots around the US to explore waterways.

My question is: At what speed does the nose of the 2452 start to rise? i.e. What speed can you putter along sightseeing with the boat relatively flat? We are thinking we'd mount our Honda 15 4-stroke on as a kicker to get better MPG while puttering. We like idea of the main engine to plane between locations.

Thank you for any feedback.

Don

Endeavour: you won't be able to get the nose to rise with your kicker, so no worries about that issue. I have a Yamaha 9.9 on my boat and would guess that you should be able to putt along at 4-7 mph depending on wind and currents. You will be flat at these speeds. I've never just cruised with my kicker, but when fishing I can troll all day at 2.5 kts on 3 gallons. Hopes this helps. Have fun. K
