Hi All,
I just got a 2kw pure sine wave inverter charger. Planning on installing it in the cave on my 3288. Any suggestions on how to best hook up the batteries?
I have the standard house bank and 2 starting.
Thanks
Burr

First, big wires to the batteries. Other than that, man up and follow the instructions. On my last boat I installed a gen/off/shore power switch to control the AC side as well as a monitoring panel.
On my current boat the inverter circuit is separate from the AC as a sub panel on the main AC panel. I can only operate the outlets, refrigerator and microwave from the main circuit panel if not plugged in. I have four dedicated golf cart batteries for the inverter and they only recharge with the generator or shorepower. I also have a controller that I can set to the incoming shorepower Amps, and it will supplement the system as required.
Be sure to switch your starting battery off so you don't have a nasty surprise some morning.

Consider bolting the inverter to the stringers above the two engines. Use the factory battery charger circuit for the incoming power source. This minimizes cable length and reduces noise. Assumes diesel as you can't put an inverter near gas engines.
