What should I used to seal any water from penetrating behind the rub rail of my Element 16e?

I've had good luck with Dow 4000 on my 2452.

I was talking to my mechanic on this subject just a few days ago. He worked in the Bayliner plant in Arlington for several years before it was shut down. He told me both 3M 5200 and 4200 degrade with UV over time. His recommendation was 3M 4000 for anything exposed to sunlight.
