The "What have you spent so far this year" thread was interesting, to see what we pay for docking. We have a 23' Capri cuddy. We pay $1975 for a covered slip, with water and shore power. The slip fits up to a 25' boat, and covers launch till mid-October. Our previous marina was $1500 for an open slip, no services, but covered haul-out, minus the blocking.

Prices all all over the place depending on the location so it is almost useless to compare. That being said, I pay $2100 Canadian for a seasons slip for 35' of boat. This includes all the water and electricity I can use.

Socal rates vary from San Diego to Marina del Rey. Average is probably about $15/ft per month with electricity extra in growing number of marinas. Newport harbor the most expensive and I've heard of rates as high as $55/ft per month there. MDR probably next in line. Cheapest is back bay area of Los Angeles where the oil slicks and homeless come together. My opinion of fair rates with good environments would be Dana Point, Huntington harbor, Long Beach, San Diego, mission bay.

40ft LOA on Lake Union Seattle. Slip is probably 50ft $400 a mont including Elec and water. Quite a bargain for the location but seems expensive compared to many on here.

42 ft slip. about $2200 year plus a service charge for electric per month plus electric bill.
The harbor also sends in the morning one person to check the water line of vessels, then one to check on who is docked where, in the evening the same.
WE have a security camera system that the police dept. can monitor (some times?).
All in all it is the least expensive harbor in AK, we just re-built the last 3 docks, A-B-C.
Check out our harbor marine cam from: MajorMarine.com. the harbor also has a cam.

About $3,600 year for a 33' slip. It's usually $300-$320 month depending on electric use. Fridge for the beer during non-winter uses more electricity than the heater during the winter.

Hudson River, NY , about 80 miles north of NYC

When I first bought the boat last October I called all around to the marinas in the area. The cost varied depending on location, like anything else.

For our 185 we pay $1,100 for the season. The marina we're at is about 7 miles north of Newburgh where there is a nice waterfront area with restaurants, boardwalk, etc. The cost for an 18 footer in one of the marinas in Newburgh averages $3,000-$3,200.

The costs we pay is with no electric. The marina has a store, restrooms, and showers. What I don't like is while you can get to your boat 24/7 the ramp is only open 8-5. After that you need to use another ramp if you want to go elsewhere.

WE use the Homer boat harbor in Alaska.. When we bought the boat it was in Homer but looked at moving it to Seward since its a hope skip and a jump from Prince William sound...However it was more costly and the waiting list was horrible in Whittier and Seward since too many Anchorage people were on the list. We are on transient mooring in Homer but lucked out and got a slot till the end of September by paying to be on the waiting list (30.00 a year) plus we pay in advance which figures to be about 270.00 a month with water, but not shore power. The Taxes were another factor when we thought about moving her. Homer charges by the foot and not by the value of the boat that Whittier or Seward wanted. The borough has a value listed for our boat at the Survey price of 74,000.00 rather than the 20,000 we paid, Homer is a better deal on the Kenai Peninsula since it charges by the foot instead of the value of the boat like Seward and Whittier charges. Prince William sound does have shrimping and crabbing where Kachemack does not BUT I can buy a lot of shrimp for the price difference in Mooring fees and taxes yearly. I'm also allergic to crab..

I pay $1200 for my slip at Trouts Yacht Basin in (Bolles Harbor) Monroe MI. The season there runs from May 1st to October 31st. The fee paid includes both water and electricity. I try not to abuse either using only water I need and electricity only when on the boat. Showers are .25 and laundry is $1.00 for the washing machine and the same for the dryer. It is a family owned and run marina. Everything is reasonably priced. Gas is usually about a dollar a gallon under most of the other area marinas.

I wintered this past winter at another marina nearby, cost me $825 for storage, winterizing twin engines and the A/C system. Add another $325 for the shrinkwrap.
