So while pursuing my prop (looking to put a 4-blade on it) I noticed I didn't have a trim tab. I've been reading some that says the 4 bald requires a different trim tab to allow for clearance.....anyone have any suggestions or perhaps has put a 4 blade on their 175 that could provide some insight?

The silver tab....mine does not have one. And I have read that switching to a 4 blade prop has the potential that the prop will hit that tab.

No need to have tab with power steering, but still need anode in place.

Do you have cable or hydro steering? If you have a cable you would need the tab. If not you should have a zinc/anode mounted there.

I have rack and pinion steering. I'm assuming it wouldn't be cable. Correct?

Rack & pinion is what drives the cable. If your not power assisted you'll want the trim anode in place and adjusted to compensate for possible torque steer. If you have power assisted steering you could run without the trim anode. When changing to a different prop and or pitch/diameter you may need to modify the trim anode to create prop clearance. Don't want your new prop hitting anything except water.
