I emailed them about the room that i have to mount them. They said no problem. Did anyone else put the smart tabs on a capri 1950 like mine? If you did can you post pics?

I guess you want to put them out as far as possible, not in towards the drive?

I don't know how similar our hulls are, but on my 2012 185, I had essentially the same "chine" in the middle of my transom on the hull. I did move the tabs out as far as I thought possible...here is a pic. I don't know if it helps much...

Thanks Rob. The only thing different on mine is that it steps out a bit on the stern. I imagine that the shock adjustments will be able to compensate for the that. Its not mounted on the same surface, its going to be mounted above the step up.

So i tried them out yesterday with shocks in the middle hole like they suggested. Going no wake zone and slow it was great. No bow wonder. however, trying to get up on plane, the boat listed to the left drastically. I had to slow down. so i went to the beach and adjusted it a bit. Got a little better.

I had the wife sit infront on the same side as me and it was ok.

Any suggestions?

Hello all, I've read quite a few posts on the smart tabs and I'm convinced that I want them. But my boat came with a Doel-Fin installed and was wondering what people thing about keeping the Doel-Fin installed or taking it off after getting the smart tabs. Thanks,

Well I tried it out on saturday. Greg from Nauticus told me to take off the whale tail. What a difference. She planed out quick and was more stable in the turns. 3 adults, 1 child, and a dog. I was impressed. Worth every penny.

Ive been thinking about putting Tabs on my VR5, primarily for better handling and control coming into dock. Did you find improved control in this aspect? Very interested if TABS (either electric or hydraulic) are worth the investment..
